(303) 659-4028 x1 Recently, 3D Nature completed a series of visualizations of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River under contract to the National Parks Service and The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (New York State Route 97). The visualizations concerned the placement and visual impact of New York Regional Interconnect's 190-mile long high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line from Oneida County, New York to Orange County, New York. Using reference photos, and GIS data of terrain and vegetation, 3D Nature created accurate 3D images of the proposed alignment to illustrate the position and visibility of the powerline towers from critical viewpoints. Paired photorealistic images and matching reference "guide" images (containing only brightly-colored towers on a neutral featureless terrain) help stakeholders locate and analyze the visual impact within the context of familiar locations. 3D Nature Announces Free Scene Express Update with Google Earth 4 Support
3D Nature announced the immediate availability of Google Earth 4 support their Visual Nature Studio 2 (VNS) and Scene Express 2 products.
VNS is 3D Nature's industry-leading landscape visualization tool for GIS users. Scene Express adds the ability to export landscapes into popular interactive 3D environments like Google Earth, NASA WorldWind, VRML, VTP, OpenFlight and 3D Nature's own NatureView Express.
3D Nature is the first fully GIS-enabled landscape authoring tool to offer support for directly generating textured COLLADA (.dae) models geospatial data in any projection. This latest update improves the VNS Google Earth exporter to support long-awaited new features only available in Google Earth 4 software, such as textured 3D objects (buildings, bridges, vehicles, etc) and properly-sized vegetation.
COLLADA support also now permits the simplified representation of custom terrain within Google Earth 4, by exporting the terrain model as a basic textured 3D model.

3D Nature Now Shipping Scene Express 2
Scene Express is an add on to World Construction Set 6 and Visual Nature Studio 2 that will allow users to export their projects for use in other formats. Scene Express exports terrain, textures, foliage, 3D objects, water, skies, basic fog and atmospheres and all other landscape elements. Adding Scene Express to the powerful landscape creation tools already found in WCS and VNS makes creating realtime environments from existing scenes as easy as clicking Export.
3D Nature continues pushing the envelope of GIS-integrated 3D Landscape visualization with version 2 of their pioneering Scene Express product. Scene Express is an add-on for World Construction Set 6 or Visual Nature Studio 2 that enables landscapes to be exported for use in other environments and tools, including 3D Nature's free high-performance NatureView Express viewer.
Originally introduced in 2003, Scene Express 1 offered VRML, 3D Studio, Lightwave and NatureView Express output formats with optional add-ons for OpenFlight (flight and driving simulators) and STL (solid model fabrication). Forest Service Blanket Approval Granted for VNS 2

Visualizing the Big Picture with ECW and Visual Nature Studio 2
Visualization users around the world now have fast convenient and efficient access to huge high-resolution imagery datasets with Visual Nature Studio 2's support for Earth Resource Mapping's open standard Enhanced Compression Wavelet (ECW) technology. VNS2 supports dynamic demand-paged loading of ECW files to efficiently access only the required data in a large image.
"What this means is if you're visualizing a site and have an image mosaic of the entire region, you no longer need to crop and georeference a subset of your image. Just provide VNS2 with your ECW file, and it will efficiently use the areas you need coverage for without using excessive memory or requiring laborious cropping or preprocessing. Being able to immediately use massive off the shelf image mosaics greatly speeds the visualization process." said Chris Hanson, Vice President of Research and Development for 3D Nature.
VNS 2 also makes use of ECW's Image Web Server capabilities, requesting only the minimal data needed to satisfy the visualization requirements and opening the door to accessing numerous web-based image datasets. VNS2 automatically reads georeferencing metadata from ECW files, using VNS 2's dynamic reprojection for automatic alignment of imagery with other DEM raster and vector data. VNS 2 can also save raster output visualizations to the ECW format, complete with georeferencing for use in other GIS and imagery applications.

3D Nature LLC, makers of the award winning World Construction Set, proudly unveiled Visual Nature Studio 1.1, the newest technology in Photorealistic Landscape Visualization software. VNS extends the stunning realism features of WCS with new capabilities and workflow improvements for GIS Professionals.
VNS 1.1 can now import ESRI .E00 raster DEM, ESRI .ADF raster DEM and United Kingdom Ordnance Survey NTF DNM (Land-Form Panorama and Profile DTM in NTF formats). Additionally, it can export ESRI ArcView shapefile (2D and 3D with attributes). Additionally, VNS now supports the New Zealand Map Grid coordinate system.

Announcing World Construction Set Version 5!
3D Nature is please to introduce World Construction Set Version 5. The software was announced March 14, 2000 and the Intel Version began shipping April 17, 2000. PowerMac and DEC Alpha will begin shipping soon.
Version 5 focuses on the requests of users to enhance the feature list while simplifying the user interface. According to Gary Huber, President of 3D Nature LLC, "Version 5 is by far our biggest revision ever. Its cornerstone is a brand new interface with a much friendlier and more productivity-oriented work environment.
