Current versions of VNS are compiled with the "LARGE ADDRESS AWARE" setting, and thus if Windows is also configured for it, will have access to more memory (usually 3Gb).

64-bit versions of Windows XP and later also recognize this flag, and can provide VNS 4Gb of address space.
